The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) has passed a resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, where Israel's war on Hamas is nearing the six-month mark.
It demands a halt to the fighting for the remainder of the holy month of Ramadan, along with all of Hamas’ hostages being immediately released.
As Redmond Shannon explains, the U.S. abstained from the vote and did not veto the measure, which has drawn sharp criticism from Israel.
