Happy Easter folks. Time for the 7th episode in the restoration of this 1998 BMW E36 3-Series Touring, nicknamed \"Hero\" and bought off Ebay in July 2023 in order to start our channel.
This was filmed in October 2023 and we continued to address the minging interior and the \"Flappymcflapface\" sagging headliner: a common failure point on these 29+ year old motors.
We fully prep the headliner and get our upholstering heads on, demonstrating how two mustard keen and slightly aging men from Hampshire can do this job. If we can do it, then so can you, ya?
The headliner material is Cloud Grey from Matrim (https://www.martrim.co.uk/car-trimming-supplies/product-details.php?productId=3563).
We used a variety of degreasers and sticker removers, which are clearly shown in the film.
To glue it, we used Trimfix, but this is NOT a recommendation. It's all we had and we grabbed some Everbuild Instant spray glue from Toolstation too. If you are doing this job and want to give it the best shot at staying stuck, we recommend 3M 90 High Strength adhesive.
After a spot of bickering, micro-aggressions and annexing of personal space, we get a result we are pretty happy with for about £55 in material and some left-over Trimfix (plus a can of Everbuild Instant - about £5). So grab your gilet, a cup of tea and enjoy our efforts!
So, three questions
1) Where does the lotion go?
2) Why is the grass a little sticky?
3) Can we trim and refit it all in a day's work?
